GM finalizes sale of Lordstown plant to Workhorse-affiliated EV builder

Well, what do you know! It appears the historic Lordstown deal is going to happen after all. Lordstown Motors (LMC) has formally announced its acquisition of the former GM manufacturing complex in Lordstown, Ohio. LMC, a spin-off of Workhorse Group (NASDAQ: WKHS), plans to begin production of an electric pickup at the Lordstown plant starting in late 2020.

The good news: global automakers are getting more serious about electrification, announcing numerous new models and planning massive investments. The bad news: the trend is increasingly bypassing the North American market, as many of the new EVs, including models from US automakers, are to be sold only in China or Europe.

Ford reveals electric Mustang with 'stunning' acceleration

Ford unveiled a fully electric Mustang with over 900 horsepower at a car show in Las Vegas Wednesday. It's not for sale, but the customized Mustang is intended to gauge interest in a high-performance electric car, Ford said.

Quebec will give you a $4,000 rebate on an EV, even if you're buying it used

Electric vehicle shoppers in Quebec must feel pretty lucky, living in by far the most generous province when it comes to EV incentives — they can get back up to $8,000 on a new battery-powered vehicle, or $13,000 if you include the $5,000 incentive the federal government started kicking in last May.
