The first 100% electric self-driving shuttle on Canadian soil

Toronto Transit Commission orders 10 electric buses from New Flyer

New Flyer Industries Canada has won an order from the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) for ten forty-foot electric Xcelsior CHARGE transit buses, with an option to purchase up to 30 additional buses over the next two years.

Recharge as you drive: Scalextric-style roads will top-up battery levels of electric vehicles during journeys

  • Wireless charging systems work by a process called electromagnetic induction
  • Electricity passes through a coil of wire inside a pad creating a magnetic field
  • This field transfers electricity to a charging receiver on the underside of the car
  • The scheme could also see these pads installed at service stations and car parks
